EXAMPLE OF OPENING PAGE LAYOUT Identification of emission sources by trace metal concentration

چکیده
Aerosols emitted by antropogenic activity are in relationship to their emission source and exhibit distinguishable characteristics (size, metal concentration and density) that can often univocally identify the source. Nevertheless, different processes can characterize industrial plants that produce the same product. Due to this, dusts emitted by the same source can have different chemical composition and physical properties. This paper reports the analysis carried out on dusts emitted by two cement plants that produce Portland cement, according to a substantially similar technological cycle, realized using the same raw materials. The most important difference between the two cement plants is that one uses a long kiln while the other utilizes a short one equipped with cyclon preheater and precalciner. This causes differences to be noticed in the composition of the dusts emitted by the two plants.

Background: Proton induced X-ray emission (PIXE) has been applied as reliable and improved techniques in this study to compare concentration of various trace elements in normal and abnormal varicose veins. Materials and Methods: Five samples from normal veins and 13 samples from varicose veins bombarded by 2.0 MeV energy proton beams produced by a Van de Graff accelerator in vacuum. T...
متن کاملTrace Metals and Major Elements in Sediments of the Northern Persian Gulf
The concentrations of sixteen elements and organic carbon were determined in 78 marine sediment samples collected from the Iranian coastal waters of the Persian Gulf. Nine transects perpendicular to the coastline were sampled. Sixteen elements, including As, Ba, Cd, Co, Cu, Mn, Ni, Pb, Zn (trace metals) and Ca, Fe, Mg, Na, P, S, Si (major metals), were determined by Inductively Coupled Plasma M...

Air quality in greater Algiers, in Algeria was assessed analyzing aerosol particulate matter (PM10 and PM2.5) at a site influenced by heavy road traffic. Particulate matters were collected using a Gent sampler to characterize the atmospheric aerosol of Algiers. An Energy dispersive X ray spectrometer (EDXRF) was used to determine the heavy metal concentrations in the PM2.5 and PM10 size fractio...
